Michael Hoey and FootJoy prove to be a perfect SYNR-G.
06/04/2009
Northern Ireland’s Michael Hoey claimed his first European Tour victory at the Estoril Open de Portugal in a tense playoff. Hoey produced one of the rounds of his life to surge to the top of the leaderboard with an impressive five under 66. The thirty-year-old Hoey had started the day five shots off the lead down in 19th place, but his impressive final round saw him tie with Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano at the top of the leaderboard to force a playoff. The playoff began with two more trips down the 18th both of which were halved with pars. The man from Belfast finally got his hands on the trophy after a great up and down for par on the 17th. The win secured Hoey the first place prize of £192,755 and more importantly a two-year exemption on the European Tour.
FJ Collar wearer Hoey strode to victory in the new FootJoy SYNR-G shoe which gave him a solid platform to experience his maiden European Tour victory.
